Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 22, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Dear God application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

The App is operated by Sandor Abad, sole proprietor, California, United States. The data controller for these Terms is the same entity, reachable at the contact address below.

2. Description of Service

Dear God is a voice-first prayer companion for iOS. The App allows you to speak your prayers aloud and receive scripture-grounded responses through real-time voice conversation powered by artificial intelligence. Dear God is not affiliated with any religious organization or denomination.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. Accounts and Authentication

Dear God requires you to sign in using Apple or Google authentication to use the service. Your account is used to manage your subscription, track usage, and secure your data. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen within the App; deletion requires a fresh re-authentication with Apple or Google to confirm the request. Account deletion permanently removes your profile and personal data from our servers, and we submit deletion requests to our subscription and analytics processors at the same time. Certain anonymized financial and tax records are retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Existing subscribers (before April 2026): Customers who purchased an annual or weekly subscription prior to the introduction of the minute-based allowance retain their original subscription terms, including unlimited voice conversations, for as long as their subscription remains active and uncanceled. The 300-minute annual allowance and top-up pack system apply only to subscriptions purchased after this change takes effect.

6. Fair Use Policy

Dear God is designed for personal, non-commercial use. To protect the service for all users and to prevent abuse, we reserve the right to limit, throttle, or suspend usage that is fraudulent, automated, shared across multiple users without authorization, or materially exceeds typical personal usage patterns. For any non-abuse changes to included minute allowances, we will provide at least 30 days’ notice via email or in-app notice before the change takes effect.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Dear God respectfully and in accordance with its intended purpose as a prayer companion. You may not:

8. AI-Generated Content — Important Disclaimer

All responses provided by the App are generated by artificial intelligence. While responses are grounded in Scripture, they are produced by a machine learning model and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or misinterpretations.

Dear God is NOT a substitute for:

The App does not represent any church, denomination, or religious authority. AI-generated responses do not constitute official theological, doctrinal, or pastoral guidance. You acknowledge that you use the App at your own discretion and that you are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on the App’s responses.

You expressly agree that Dear God, its developers, operators, and affiliates bear no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any actions you take, decisions you make, or consequences that arise from relying on AI-generated content provided by the App.

Crisis support: If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, the agent may suggest contacting a crisis hotline appropriate to your region. If the agent’s suggestion is unavailable or unfamiliar, please contact your local emergency services immediately.

9. Voice Data

When you use the App, your voice is transmitted in real time to our AI voice provider for processing. Raw voice audio is not permanently stored by us. At the end of each session, the conversation transcript is sent to Anthropic (Claude) to produce a short written summary (roughly 150-250 words) that is stored on our servers to give the agent continuity on your future sessions. A local encrypted copy of the conversation transcript is kept on your device for your personal history. Both the server-side summary and the device transcript are deleted when you delete your account. See our Privacy Policy for details.

By using the App, you consent to the transmission and processing of your voice data as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, content, and branding, is the property of Dear God and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Dear God, its developers, operators, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or any actions you take based on AI-generated content provided by the App.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting your account through the App’s Settings and cancelling your subscription through Apple.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California and the federal laws of the United States applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory statutory rights granted to you under the consumer protection laws of your country or state of residence, including but not limited to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and the European Union’s consumer rights directives.

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited under applicable consumer protection law.
